Toledo, Ohio—Marco’s franchising LLC will open nine Marco’s Pizza locations in the Indianapolis area by June 1st after an acquisition of stores from Pizza Magia, a Louisville, Ky., chain.
“The opportunity to acquire these locations corresponds with our plans to add seven units in Indiana,” says Jack Butorac Jr., President of Marco’s Franchising. “Through Map Info, a site selection research firm that utilizes the latest technology to categorize growth areas throughout the country, [we have] identified the Indianapolis DMA as a target growth market. We already have established stores in Fort Wayne and South Bend, and the addition of Indianapolis stores will serve as a catalyst for our expansion plans.”
According to Butorac, the managers and 200 employees currently working at the Pizza Magia locations will be retained by Marco’s Pizza. Since acquiring the franchise rights in 2004, Butorac and his team of “growth experts” have signed three area development agreements committing to more than 40 new locations in Nevada, Arizona, Ohio, Indiana and Michigan.
