Novi, Mich. --Tower Automotive, Inc. today has appointed Sharon Wenzl, 45, to the newly created position of Global Human Resource and Communications Leader, effective immediately. As a member of Tower Automotive's enterprise leadership team, Wenzl is responsible for aligning human resource and corporate communications strategies with the company's focus on operational excellence. Wenzl will also assist the company's financial organization with investor relations. Wenzl reports to Kathleen Ligocki, Tower Automotive's President and Chief Executive Officer.

"We are very excited to have Sharon join our leadership team," says Ligocki. "Sharon has an extensive background at the senior level of human resources and corporate communications, and is well-known in our industry. Her broad experience base, along with expertise in implementing lean manufacturing systems, will help jump-start cultural change initiatives at Tower."

Wenzl brings 21 years of experience with automotive and industrial companies. Prior to joining Tower Automotive, she was Vice President, Corporate Human Resources and Communication, for Plymouth, Mich.-based automotive supplier Freudenberg-NOK, which she joined in 1990. While there, Wenzl also played a key role in Freudenberg-NOK's lean manufacturing implementation. Prior to her tenure at Freudenberg-NOK, she held various communication positions with companies in the industrial market.

Wenzl also brings a strong record of community service. She served on the Arthritis Foundation's Michigan chapter board of directors, and took an active role in coordinating foundation fundraisers. Wenzl also is a past board member of the Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center (MMTC), and continues to actively work with many charitable organizations throughout metro Detroit.
