Seagate honored for advancement of women in the workplace

San Francisco, Calif. -- The Professional BusinessWomen of California (PBWC) has selected Seagate Technology as a winner of its 2005 Pacesetter Award. The awards honor the top Bay Area companies to advance women in the workplace.

State Senator Jackie Speier, founder of PBWC, will present the 2005 Pacesetter Awards during the keynote luncheon at the 16th Annual PBWC Conference on Tuesday, May 3, 2004 at the Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco.

"Seagate is committed to advancing women in the workplace, and we're delighted that Seagate's efforts are being recognized," says Karen Hanlon, Seagate Senior Vice President of Human Resources. "In the past year, we increased the number of female executives and our ratio of female new-hires in Northern California. Seagate is a place where women are welcomed as contributors, and have significant opportunities to advance in their careers based on performance."

The Pacesetter Award winners were selected from 53 of the largest public companies from nine Bay Area counties. The PBWC Pacesetter Award ranks firms according to:

  • Percentage of women employees;
  • Percentage of women executives;
  • Percentage of women corporate officers;
  • Quality and quantity of company-sponsored programs that benefit women in the workplace.
