Atlanta, Ga., -- SunTrust Banks, Inc. (NYSE: STI) has promoted Mimi Breeden to Corporate Executive Vice President and Director of Human Resources, effective March 1, 2006.
In this role, Ms. Breeden will oversee human resources strategy, talent management, employee benefits, compensation, staffing, human resources systems, operations and payroll, compliance, employee relations, human resources policies, and training and development.
Ms. Breeden most recently served as manager of SunTrust's Private Wealth Management line of business where she was responsible for the Domestic and International Wealth Management areas as well as Financial Planning, Music and Motorsports Banking and Credit Advisory Services.
Ms. Breeden, 55, will report to David F. Dierker, SunTrust's Chief Administrative Officer. She has also been named to SunTrust's Management Committee, the company's senior internal forum for business coordination. Ms. Breeden succeeds Mary Steele, who had previously announced plans to retire from SunTrust.
A 26-year SunTrust veteran, Ms. Breeden joined SunTrust as an analyst in the research and development department and held increasingly responsible positions in marketing, market management and retail banking. She oversaw the creation of SunTrust's In-store Banking division in Atlanta, and managed the Georgia In-store Banking unit for 5 years before joining the Retirement Services area of Institutional Trust in 2001. She was named manager of Institutional Trust in 2002, and manager of the Private Wealth Management line of business in early 2005.
Ms. Breeden earned a bachelor's degree in English and French from Florida State University and an MBA from Georgia State University.
